Shower & Smoke by Artimíque might have one of the most intriguing concepts for a perfume that I’ve come across in a while. It establishes a clear contrast: bright and clean vs. a little bit broody…yet somehow, it delivers on both without ever feeling confused or gimmicky.
This isn’t a bold, smoky beast, and it’s not your typical soapy-clean scent either. It’s balanced: elegant, subtle, and quietly unexpected.

First Impressions
The opening is bright and tart. Juicy grapefruit with a hit of mandarin and orange that’s just sweet enough to round off any bitterness. It’s got that ‘just out of the shower’ vibe, crisp and clean but also energetic, not sterile. Neroli is present and noticeable, of course it is…no self-respecting ‘shower fresh’ scent would be caught without it!
Where the Smoke Comes In
Now, about the smoke: it’s not overt. This isn’t a campfire or a cigarette cloud. Instead, the guaiac wood and vetiver whisper in the background. There’s a hint of dry, papery wood and something almost incense-like, just enough to add a bit of atmosphere.
And while I have never been a smoker, I’ve always had a soft spot for perfumes that nod to cigarette smoke in a thoughtful way. Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d’Orange comes to mind in that regard, though this is far more subtle and easier to wear. No ashtray dregs here.
Elegant Contrast
The whole experience is kind of addictive. It balances clean skin with something a little smouldering, a whisper of firelight rather than a blast of smoke in your face. There’s also something classic and slightly cologne-like about it, likely from the neroli and cedar. I could easily see this appealing to men, but it’s absolutely unisex and easygoing.
When I’d Wear It
This is one of those ‘anytime, anywhere’ perfumes. It’s polished but soft-spoken, perfect for spring and summer days, or when you want to smell fresh but not overly floral or fruity. It could also work as an office scent because it is overall clean, sophisticated, and a little intriguing without demanding too much attention.
Final Thoughts
I really didn’t expect to like this one as much as I do. The concept is clever, and the execution is quietly beautiful. It’s the kind of scent you keep reaching for without even thinking about it.
