Best Mood-Enhancing Scented Candles for a Happy Home

(This Post Contains Affiliate Links)

Scented Candles are still by far my favourite way to scent my home and get a fix of fragrance. There is something special about a scented candle burning cheerfully on my desktop to help invigorate me and get me into thinking mode (it also motivates me to keep my desk clear if i don’t want to risk burning the house down!).

Just as with perfume, I can be rather fickle when it comes to my home fragrance. One week I will obsess over a candle, and then the next I will put it away and forget about it entirely for a few months (or in some cases, a year).

Below I cover off on a few of my favourite loves as we come into spring:

Cire Trudon

Madurai by Cire Trudon*– I don’t even know if I have the words to describe this one. It is a jasmine scent but is the softest, most sensual jasmine I think I have ever laid my nose on. I love it so much that in addition to treating myself to the candle I also purchased a whole stash of wax cameos so that I can always be scenting rooms with this, even when I don’t have time to burn a candle (and the cameos are a little less pricey). I know, I know, Cire Trudon scented candles and products are pricey, but this scent is to die for, so I am willing to sacrifice a meal or two to have them! My benzoin kick is still in full force as well, so that could be contributing to my current obsession. ($135, up to 60 hours).

Glasshouse Candles

The Hamptons by Glasshouse – this candle is based primarily on teak and petitgrain. Its a little bit floral, a bit woody, a bit sweet, a bit salty. I think I might have mentioned in my YouTube video that this is how I want a room to smell – and I stand by that. This is a really classy scent and if I could never get another Glasshouse candle but this one, I wouldn’t mind a bit. These candles are made from quality ingredients, they recently switched from paraffin to soy and their wicks are lead-free. ($49, 65 hours).

Generics Urban Apothecary

Monet’s Garden by Generics Urban Apothecary – this brand originated in my old home city of Perth by designer Lisa Chau. This is a lovely floral fragrance with a hint of lavender and a lovely refreshing splash of cucumber. I love the concept of refillable candles, and if I lived in Perth I would be taking them back to be refilled (at a discount!) but alas I will have to wait until they (hopefully) manage to open a store in my new home city of Brisbane. These candles are handmade with wood wicks, which I love because the crackling is both meditative and attention focussing. ($49, 80hr burn time).

Moss St Candles

Suede & Violet by Moss St – I confess, I bought this one in a sale and I was enticed by the sleek, minimal appearance (I also love black jars). So, my expectations were low. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The suede note in this is soft and delicate. There is an almond note in here which is supported by violet, amber and rose. There are quite a few other notes in this one, and it does also have that “perfumey” feel – not your average candle. It’s like a posh candle, without the posh pricepoint. It has really great scent throw and though I have had it for months and burn it regularly I am not even halfway through. Although I did buy this in a sale, I feel like it is excellent value even at full price ($32.95).
